Minnesota’s New Eviction Notice Requirement
As of January 1, 2024, Minnesota law requires landlords to provide tenants with a 14-day written notice before filing for eviction due to non-payment of rent or other financial obligations (Minn. Stat. § 504B.321). This ensures tenants can resolve outstanding balances before legal action is taken. Some cities, such as Minneapolis, have additional requirements before proceeding with evictions.
